Everything is shaping up nicely. I have most of the functions I need and what is left is interesting, challenging, and will give me lots of materials for technical blogs and presentations on development.
Oh hang on, I want anonymous comments to include required contact information. No problem, login -> Administer -> Content -> Comment page ... huh nope ... OK how about something under the user settings? Nope. Maybe permissions section. Nothing looks right. Dang it finding some of the settings for stuff in Drupal is more than a little annoying.
Google save me!
Do I need to install a new module? Well that would be annoying but maybe. Search, read, search, [~1/4 hour later] OH sweet thank you so very much for not only wanting to do the same thing but also writing a clear guide to do it in your blog: http://www.marcelgagne.com/node/587
Just to save you a little time (so you don't have to read the blog above. The quick solution is:
Administer-> Content management -> Content Types-> BLog Entry-> Edit. Now, look down to where it says "Comment settings" and click that link to open up the options below. You'll see a host of options for commenting in general and, more importantly for this discussion, Anonymous commenting.

Re: Adding Anonymous Comments (in Drupal)
Thanks for this post! Really helped me out. But I have a second question - is it possible to change the settings so that someone can post a comment but hide or change the authorship to anonymous?
Re: Adding Anonymous Comments (in Drupal)
I know an administrator can remove or edit the authorship. You could just not display the user data on the comments.
